New European Competition Launches

The VOITH Heidenheim Heideköpfe and Guggenberg Legionnaires Regensburg are making history as the first season of the Baseball Champions League Europe (BCL Europe) begins. This new European club competition operates under the umbrella of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).

Regensburg and Heidenheim in Separate Preliminary Round Tournaments

From May 22nd to 24th, fans in Regensburg will have the opportunity to see the Guggenberg Legionnaires host a preliminary round tournament. The Heideköpfe will compete simultaneously in Rotterdam.

The Guggenberg Legionnaires will face Draci Brno (Czech Republic), Oosterhout Twins (Netherlands), and ASD Parma (Italy) in the Armin Wolf Arena. The Heidenheim Heideköpfe will compete against Neptunus Rotterdam (Netherlands), Nettuno BC (Italy), and the Tenerife Marlins (Spain) in Rotterdam.

BCL Europe Format

This marks the first time the most crucial European club competition will be held directly under the WBSC’s global banner. The competition offers a platform to showcase European baseball on an international stage.

The eight qualified teams have been divided into two groups of four, ensuring no teams from the same country compete within the same group. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Final Four, scheduled for September 26th and 27th. The location of the Final Four will be announced following the May games.

German Teams Aim to Shine

The participation of both the Guggenberg Legionnaires and the VOITH Heidenheim Heideköpfe underscores the strength of German baseball in Europe. German baseball is at the top in Europe.

Recent Successes

The Guggenberger Legionäre recently defeated the VOITH Heidenheim Heideköpfe by a score of 11-1. They also secured a victory against Heidenheim with a score of 8-2.

On February 6th, 2026, the Heidenheim Heideköpfe U18 team, along with their trainers, traveled to their partner city, Döbeln.
