Badminton second Bundesliga
The Offenburg Badminton Club started the second division season with a win and a loss. They managed a 4:3 victory against newly promoted TV Hofheim. But the BCO was fighting a losing battle against 1. BC Bischmisheim.

On Saturday, the Offenburg badminton club started against the promoted team TV Hofheim with balanced doubles. The BCO decided to split the well-rehearsed doubles around the Burger brothers in order to win both doubles if possible. Jonas Burger competed with newcomer Niclas Kirchgessner, Lukas Burger was alongside Andreas Müller. This tactic worked. While the two men’s doubles were won, the women’s doubles Lena Reder/Lina Berger had to admit defeat to the former national player Annika Dörr and the German champion in the U22 age group, Mareike Bittner. In the second men’s singles, they met the former BCO player Simon Discher again and thus had a brotherly duel with Johannes Discher. The latter had the better nerves and secured another point for Offenburg. In the last game, Lukas Burger had to decide. Both the women’s singles and the mixed went to Hofheim, so with the score at 3:3, the overall victory depended on the first men’s singles. Lukas Burger defeated his opponent in five sets and secured the 4:3 victory.
There was nothing to be gained from 1. BC Bischmisheim in Saarbrücken. The German Olympic badminton training center is located there, and the squad was accordingly high-class. In the end, the score was 1:6. Niclas Kirchgessner and Lukas Burger took the consolation point in the second men’s doubles. Johannes Discher came close to winning, losing to Matthias Deininger in the extra set.
