With the aim of encouraging administrative staff to reduce stress levels through breathing exercises, yoga postures and mindfulness, the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS), through the University Wellness Unit (UBU), presents Yoga and Mindfulness Program for Comprehensive Well-being, inviting the community to activate body and mind alike.
The Yoga and Wellness coordinator, Eunice Valdez Muñoz, indicated that this program arose in response to the great success of the Yoga program developed online during the pandemic confinement, which emerged as an alternative to combat stress, anxiety and insomnia as it serves as a physical activation.
So today, this program continues to integrate the mechanism of mindfulness, which talks about full awareness, focusing on what happens to your own person and your environment, experiencing a close connection with your yourself, your body, mind and emotions.
“The main benefits are relaxation, lower stress levels, and a clearer mind, healthier stress levels, and they also work physically, the mindfulness part will be done first and it will close in a little yoga activity,” he explained.
He pointed out that this initiative will be launched as a pilot plan, based on the development of his postgraduate studies, as he is about to start his Master’s degree; starting with the administrative staff in a hybrid way, one week in person and one virtual week, to see later the possibility of gradually including it in different areas.
Likewise, he emphasized that this program promoted by the University Wellbeing and its director, Dr. Sofía Angulo de Madueña, aims to take actions that allow to stimulate the reduction of stress among university staff, sharing tools that allow them to achieve healthy health and comprehensive well-being.
Valdez Muñoz commented that this coming August 14 there will be a test class with the UBU staff, to launch the call later, so he invited the community to watch the UAS University Wellbeing social networks.
“Yoga is for everyone, we will not do a very long yoga, we will start slowly on our way, each one will be taken care of to avoid injuries to know our body well, which gradually .increase flexibility and movements, posture, and mindfulness,” he concluded.
