Austria’s Rising Tennis Star Joel Schwärzler Makes Future Final Debut in Antalya, Faces Top Seed Filip Cristian Jianu

Austria’s tennis hope Joel Schwärzler reached his first future final in Antalya at the weekend, but lost the duel with top seed Filip Cristian Jianu for his first professional title 1:6,2:6.

The 22-year-old Romanian is 311th in the world rankings, the 18-year-old Schwärzler is outside the top 1,000. But that will change on Monday. Schwärzler celebrated the four victories leading up to the final against almost all higher-ranked opponents.

His coach Jürgen Melzer was satisfied with first place in the junior world rankings despite the final defeat. “If you exclude the final – he didn’t do anything wrong match after match. In the end you can build on that, first future final. I hope it continues like this.” Based on the final findings you would see what needs to be worked on.
