The police had to intervene to calm things down.
“Football is very sick”exasperatedly blurts out one of the leaders of AS Poulx. And for good reason. The old day, Sunday December 15, in the morning, his team traveled away to face a Gard team, whose name he prefers to keep quiet. “But she has been known for many seasons for acts of threats and violence”he specifies. A reputation which would have been confirmed this Sunday, after yet another attack during a football match.
A leader threatened and beaten during the match
That morning, even before the start of the match, a manager of the Poulx club who was alone to supervise the team, went to file a technical reservation, because part of the regulations would not be respected by the opposing team. “At that time, the leaders of the opposing team threatened him so that he would not drop it”explains our interlocutor. An initial tension, which will finally ease when the manager reconsiders his decision. But after a first half where the youngsters from AS Poulx led the game, a foul was called in the second part of the match. And there, tensions would have increased. “A player on our team is attacked by two opponents. Seeing that others were starting to get involved, our manager decided to intervene and, there, the leader and the supervisor of the opposing team began to type it”he continues.
“A new event that shames amateur football”
The latter then decides to take refuge in his car after ordering his players to take shelter in the locker rooms. “And some parents went up to his car and started banging on the vehicle.”adds the manager. Ultimately, it will be the gendarmes who will put an end to these excesses. An episode of violence regretted by the Poulx club, which condemned these actions on its networks: “We will not communicate the results of the weekend as they are insignificant compared to this new event which shames amateur football!” According to our interlocutor, if the manager was only slightly injured, “there is a 99% probability that he will cease his functions”, he specifies. A consequence which would have repercussions on the team he supervised, because the club, like the others, struggles to find volunteers in such a context.
“If there are no sanctions afterwards, it’s useless”
An event which occurs two weeks after another outburst, he continues, where during a U13 match, a parent allegedly tried to enter the stadium to hit a young player. “The Gard-Lozère district must take its responsibilities. Because it’s all well and good to do prevention, but if there are no sanctions afterwards, there’s no point. And stop telling us that we cannot deregister a club because we must promote social integration.”. The manager taken to task was to file a complaint this Monday, December 16. The opposing club also filed a complaint, claiming that “the manager of Poulx pulled the hair of some of their players”relates the club member, denying such acts. Contacted, the Gard-Lozère football district did not respond to our requests.
