Athletes are sworn in for Codicader Games 2024 September 2024

Last Friday, authorities from the Ministry of Education (Mineduc) swore in 224 school athletes who will represent Guatemala in the XXI Central American Student Sports Games of the Council of the Central American Isthmus of Sports and Recreation (Codicader)intermediate level U-18, which will be held in El Salvador from October 2 to 11 of this year.

The swearing-in was carried out by Minister Anabella Giracca, together with the Technical Vice Minister of Education, Francisco Cabrera, who handed over the national flag to the flag-bearing athletes. Willy Gil, from the General Directorate of Physical Education (Digef), was also present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Those privileged to carry the national flag in El Salvador are: Roberto Gossmann (swimming) and Deycy Raymundo de León (chess).

224 athletes, 11 sports

“The Guatemalan delegation is made up of 112 female and 112 male athletes from 15 to 17 years old, who will participate in 11 sports,” Digef reported through its social networks.

Chess, athletics, basketball, handball, soccer, judo, karate do, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis and volleyball are the sports in which Guatemala will participate.

The sports delegations by sport will travel starting Wednesday, October 2, to El Salvador.

Competition calendar

The opening ceremony of the XXI Central American Student Sports Games of Codicader El Salvador 2024 will take place on Wednesday, October 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Las Delicias stadium in Santa Tecla (La Libertad).

Guatemala debuts on Thursday: The first sports that will come into action are: Chess, swimming, soccer, taekwondo and volleyball. The event will feature the participation of more than a thousand school athletes from the seven countries of the isthmus.
