The men 30 of TV Syke are writing a real success story: The core is not only a close-knit group, the team also celebrated the greatest success of the Syker tennis division with promotion to the state league. But it doesn’t have to end there for the Syke Tennis men.

Syke – If you wanted to film the success story of the men’s 30s from TV Syke in the tennis association league, then the story would almost be too cheesy for the screen. Imagine the following scenario: Four young Sykers learn the tennis trade in Hachestadt, become friends, always stay in touch in sports and many years later bag the greatest success of the Syker tennis division. It actually sounds too good to be true – but that’s exactly what happened.

The Syker Quartet Lennardt Schröder, Christoph Semrau, Jens Tollkötter and Fabian Tinzmann has been a close-knit clique since childhood, as Semrau confirms: “We have all known each other forever. I’ve been playing with Lennardt and Fabi since the U16s. We are pretty inseparable and have all even been on holiday together.” Tollkötter is also a firm member of the circle of friends, but initially favored football as his number one sport. But not anymore, so the “Syker Musketeers” have been hunting for points for the Hachestadt team for some time now – and with resounding success.

Syker tennis men remain strong nerves even in the direct duel with the second place in the table

The promotion to the association league was already a real coup, but the Sykers went one step further. As newcomers, the quartet – actively supported by Jens Kirchheck and Jonas Langnau – rushed from win to win and before the showdown with second-placed Frisia Loga from Leer, “only” needed a draw to win the championship, which meant jumping into the national league.

But the team wasn’t satisfied with a draw on the last day of the match either: the Syker top duo Schröder/Semrau in first and second positions defeated their opponents in the match tiebreak. And since Tinzmann also remained cool as a dog in his game, the championship was already certain before the final doubles despite Tollkötter’s retirement due to injury. But even now, TVS continued to give it their all, ultimately winning the match 4-2 and finishing the series as promoted teams with a flawless score of 12-0. Incidentally, Schröder even wore a pure white singlet.

Fabian Tinzmann is aiming to make the jump to the top league

From now on, the friends can try their luck in the state league – after all, the second highest class in Lower Saxony behind the Oberliga. But at least for Tinzmann, even two promotions in a row are still not enough: “My goal is to win the championship again and thus make it to the highest league in Lower Saxony.” “Capitano” Semrau, on the other hand, seems a little more cautious: “A solid midfield position would be enough for me. If we are assured of staying in the league, we can still look up.”

Sounds realistic. At the moment, Sykers just seem to be surfing the perfect wave. Not only did everything really work out on the red clay in 2024, things are also running almost like clockwork in the hall. Despite some injury problems, Semrau and Co. are currently in first place in the association league and, with a bit of luck, could actually get the “double”. Even if it “only” ends up as runner-up, there is still a lot to be expected from the “Fantastic Four” in the future. Even the top league doesn’t have to remain a dream for them.
