Top Seed Ready for “Tennis Paradise”

Aryna Sabalenka is back on the court and ready to compete at the WTA 1000 Indian Wells tournament, expressing her enthusiasm for the event. She will begin her campaign in the second round against the winner of a match between Alycia Parks and a qualifier.

After a month away from competition, Sabalenka emphasized her desire to return to form. I am super happy to be back at the Tennis Paradise. It’s a super nice place. “I really missed playing, so I can’t wait to play my first game here,” she stated.

Focus on Improvement and Future Goals

Sabalenka is prioritizing development and refinement of her game. My focus is on the things I have to do on the court, how to develop my game, basically, how to improve. she explained.

She acknowledged the ongoing process of building on past successes, stating, You’ll see some things that I still carry over from last season, but I feel that every year is a fresh beginning for me. I am trying to be as good as possible in every game I play, without focusing on the points to defend or what happened last year.

Advocating for Five-Set Matches

Sabalenka believes a change to five-set matches in women’s tennis would benefit her game. If we finally did that, I feel like I would probably have more Grand Slams. I feel like physically I’m very strong, I’m pretty sure my body could handle that, so hopefully it gets done. she said. She acknowledged the physical demands but believes it would be a positive change. It would mean a lot of physical work for all the players, but this is sport and we have to worry about ourselves. If we do it, I really think I have an advantage.

Sabalenka recently defeated McCartney Kessler 7-6 (4), 6-3 to advance to the third round of the Indian Wells WTA 1000. She is returning to competition after missing the Middle East swing following a strong showing in Australia, including a title in Brisbane and a run to the Australian Open final.
