The new cohort of the NFL Academy in Loughborough, UK, for the 2024/25 academic year has been announced – and Football Germany is well represented: a total of 14 German players have entered the NFL Academy, as announced by the NFL in a press release.
All players newly accepted into the youth academy squad must prove themselves in trials before they are accepted. After graduating from the NFL Academy, there are often offers from American universities for a college football scholarship.

- Johannes Mager – Linebacker – Homestead Broncos
- Justus Seelig – Running Back – Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns
- Liam Kling – Defensive Line – Paderborn Dolphins
- Matti Krüger – Defensive Line – Berlin Adler
- Moritz Strempel – Linebacker – Cologne Crocs
- Niko Kampas – Offensive Line – Düsseldorf Panther
- Peter Martin – Wide Receiver – Potsdam Royals
- Tom Brinkmann – Offensive Line – Braunschweig Lions

With a total of 14 German young players in the NFL Academy program, Germany is the second most represented country after players from the UK. Alexander Steinforth, General Manager of the NFL in Germany, was quoted in the press release: “We are happy to see that we have not only brought football to the living rooms and stadiums of Germany, but also achieved great success in the youth sector- With the NFL Academy, young and committed players are given a life-changing opportunity to experience world-class football training and a solid education. NFL academics can.”
Professional development of young talent: This is the NFL Academy
The NFL Academy is a major global NFL initiative that offers talented students the opportunity to combine full-time education with intensive football training. The first NFL Academy opened in the UK in September 2019, at Loughborough Sports Centre, which operates in partnership with Loughborough College and Loughborough University and caters to athletes from around the world.
In April 2024, the second NFL Academy opened on the Gold Coast in Australia, serving the Asia-Pacific region. More than 40 alumni have received scholarships to play college football in the United States since the program’s inception. More than 30 students will play college football in the 2024-2025 season, 19 of them at Division 1 college programs.
