The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Rome Challenge took place yesterday 14 December 2024 in Palatorrino, a FIJLKAM (Italian Judo Federation, Karate Martial Arts Fight) event organized by the UIJJ (Italian Jiu Jitsu Union).
Loris Costantini, of the Ars Nova Team in Mesagne, another juvenile (17 years old) fought in the adult category of blue belts of 82.3 kg. A more challenging step than the previous one brought Loris to face national level opponents in a category of 14 athletes:
- in the round of 16
Loris was not at his best and suffered from accumulated stress and weight loss combined with high school commitments, travel, and the environmental context. He found himself facing a tough opponent with whom he fought for 6 minutes without giving up an inch. Take the fight to 2 points and 2 advantages to 1 for him; - in the quarter-finals
facing a highly technical opponent who is good at using the open guard. He spent the first 6 minutes canceling every attack attempt until he found the key to pass and dominate him, ending the fight 16 to 0; - in the semi-final he found himself facing a very strong opponent who immediately scored a takedown leading 2 to 0 but Loris denied him, passed him and dominated him leading 7 to 2. The opponent, having regained his guard, attempted a 2-minute attack which was defended without major problems but in the remaining 5 seconds (from 6 minutes) he was able to close a strangulation that removed the possibility of playing for Gold in the final.
- The good performance remains and the Bronze is on the third step of the podium.
Loris has his own Brazilian Jiu Jitsu course (managed by Master S. Costantini, 3rd Dan Black Belt and more fully in Puglia), inviting boys and girls to try this Martial Art that has changed the world of fighting in the world .
