[시사일보=서주달 기자] The Gyeongbuk Andong City Youth Baseball Team won the ‘3rd Andong Hahoe Talbae National Children’s Baseball Competition’ held in Andong from the 3rd to the 8th, lifting the fourth trophy in four years since its founding.
This tournament, hosted by the Korea Youth Baseball Federation, involved a total of 75 teams and 2,000 players and parents at 7 local stadiums, including the Children’s Baseball Stadium at Yongsang Sports Park in Andong-si.
The participating players competed for the championship cup in a total of seven categories, including Sprout League (U-9), Dream League (U-11), Youth League (U-13), and Junior League (U-16).
Among them, the Andong City youth baseball team, which participated in the Blue Dragon League of the Dream Tree League, met the powerhouse Whimoon Academy Youth Baseball Team in the finals and won with a large score difference of 11:4, taking revenge for their runner-up finish in the previous competition.
In the final on this day, Kim Geon-ho (Andong Yeongho Elementary School, 6), who recorded 3 hits (6 RBI) in 3 at-bats, received the Most Valuable Player Award, and his teammate, Kwon Woo-jin (Andong Yeongho Elementary School, 5), received the Outstanding Player Award.
Kim Geon-ho, who received the best player award, said, “It was a meaningful competition that allowed me to learn and feel more while playing with my colleagues. First of all, I would like to thank the coach, and as I love baseball, I will work harder to become a professional baseball player.” “He expressed his feelings.
Kwon Woo-jin, who received the Outstanding Player Award, said, “I am very happy to win the national competition held in Andong. I think all the players worked hard and worked hard with one mind and achieved good results.” He added, “Coach Lee Young-joo, who guided me to have fun exercising. “I’m grateful to the coaches and parents who always support me,” he said.
Lee Young-joo, coach of the Andong City Youth Baseball Team, said, “I am proud that the young players are growing day by day as they exercise with a happy attitude despite difficult conditions during the process of winning a total of 4 championships in the 4 years since founding, and we emphasize character so that they can have the right thoughts before baseball. “It seems like my baseball skills are growing automatically,” he said. “I will continue to do my best to ensure that children can play sports without getting hurt and having fun.”
Meanwhile, Andong City Youth Baseball Team, in its fourth year since its founding, won the national championship again a year after winning the ‘2nd Youth Baseball Championship’ held last year. Previously held at the 6th Korea Cup Shinhan Dream Cup National Youth Baseball Competition, they won the ‘1st Hoengseong-gun Cup National Youth Baseball Competition’, ‘2nd Andong Hahoe Tal Cup National Children’s Baseball Competition’, and ‘3rd Sunchang Gochujang Cup National Youth Baseball Competition’. Although they were disappointing runners-up in each youth baseball tournament, they continued to grow and won the national children’s baseball tournament for two consecutive years, becoming the undisputed powerhouse of youth baseball.
