Every two years, the municipality of Saint-Laurent-des-Hommes organizes a meeting to welcome new residents. This year, the small ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 13, in the association hall, giving these new Laurentians the opportunity to get to know their municipality, their elected officials, their associations and merchants.
Mayor Michel Donnette presented the municipal team before giving the floor to various representatives of associations: municipal library, parents of students (the Lionceaux), Saint-Laurent de France, music school, festival committee, residents of the landfill center and cultural association Cult’Art. Everyone was able to give an overview of everything that exists in Saint-Laurent.
This evening was also an outstretched hand to the new residents of the town. Although it has just over a thousand inhabitants, Saint-Laurent offers a fairly remarkable diversity of activities. From the music school – welcoming 150 amateurs – to Cult’Art (15 different workshops and no less than 140 members), via the Secular Association (yoga, travel) or the festival committee, the possibilities of there is no shortage of investing in a very rich community life.
Appointments announced
In 2025, for its 20th anniversary, Cult’Art is planning three days of festivities and activities from March 7 to 9. Presented by its president Marie-Pierre Guionneau, the Saint-Laurent de France association (35 member municipalities in France) participates each year in the national gathering: an open door to tourism, art and crafts of each region and a way to create connections year after year. The president announced, Wednesday, the holding of this national event in July 2027 in Saint-Laurent-des-Hommes. Between 500 and 700 participants are expected, “who will need to be welcomed, accommodated and fed,” specifies Marie-Pierre Guionneau, launching the call for volunteers.
