Alboraya Celebrates Sporting Successes: Champions Honored by City Council

The Alboraya City Council has recognized the remarkable achievements of its local athletes and clubs, celebrating recent national and international championship wins. The event, a testament to the town’s thriving sporting community, saw athletes and their families honored for their dedication and success.

A Celebration of Local Talent

The ceremony was chaired by Miguel Chavarría, mayor of Alboraya, alongside Zeudy Estal, the Councilor for Sports. The Municipal Corporation, family, and friends joined in celebrating the accomplishments of these athletes.

In Alboraya we have a lot of talent, and athletes who succeed and take the name of our town to the top all over the world, said Miguel Chavarría, mayor of the municipality.

Recognized Athletes and Clubs

A diverse range of sporting disciplines were represented, with accolades awarded to individuals and teams excelling in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Inline Hockey, Taekwondo, and Football.

• Marcos Lliso Correa: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Champion of Spain and Europe (Gi and No-Gi categories) and World Champion (World Cup BJJ 2025 Child and Youth Category in No-Gi).
• Lucía Lliso Correa: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Champion of Spain (absolute category), of Europe (category -72kg), and World Champion (World Cup BJJ 2025 Gi category).
• Vicent Engasa Martínez: Runner-up of Spain Alevín 2019 Inline Hockey and Champion of Spain (categories: Children 2021 – Junior and Youth 2023 – Youth 2024).
• Vanesa Perez Villanueva: World champion in Taekwondo (Kyrugui modality).
• Jorge Catalá Bori (Judokan Alboraya): Spanish Junior Champion – 66kg.
• Hugo Anjo Leon (Judokan Alboraya): Spanish children’s runner-up – 45kg.
• Manuel Vavryk Tantala (Judokan Alboraya): Bronze Children’s Spanish Championship – 55kg. European champion and world runner-up in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the Gi -59 Kg category.
• Carolina Prats Ortega (Judokan Alboraya): Spanish Veteran Champion F3 – 63kg.
• Ruben Gimeno Catalá (Judokan Alboraya): Silver Spanish Championship Veterans M2 -100kg.
