On Saturday, May 4, 2024, the Albatros Cuenca Badminton Sports Club had a double trip from the east to the west of the country, as two of its members traveled to El Campello (Alicante) and another five traveled to the Extremaduran town. from Villanueva de la Vera (Cáceres).
In Campello a Master No. 6 was held and in Villanueva de la Vera a TTR Tournament, which for neophytes means that Master No. 6 is a Tournament that scores somewhat more for the national ranking than the TTR Tournament.
The Albatroses Jimena Alonso and Mateo Higueras have participated in the El Campello Master, to participate in the U17 category.
Jimena Alonso, in the U17 Women’s Individual category, with a total of sixteen participants, successfully passed the group stage to qualify for the final draw, to fight for the first places, reaching the semi-finals, in which the She met Ángela Viray, from Badminton San Fernando Valencia, who was the first seed in the Tournament, whom she had beaten just a month ago in a TTR Tournament, although on this occasion she could not defeat her, losing by a result of 14 -21, 21-17 and 14-21, finishing the Master in a magnificent third place, with which he manages to add enough points for the national ranking.
In the U17 Men’s Individual category, Mateo Higueras competed, who competed in his group with great power to also go on to compete for the medals, in this case, Mateo had to deal with Rubén Martínez, from Murcia from Badminton Infante, in the round of the round of 16, where the match went down due to small details with 15-21, 21-16 and 12-21 as a result of the three sets, finishing the Master in ninth position, out of a total of thirty participants.
In the U17 Mixed Doubles modality, Jimena Alonso and Mateo Higueras were the Albatros couple, finishing their group as third classified, which gave them no option to compete for the medals in the final draw, finishing in fifth position in the Master.
Daniela Rodríguez, Kristina Stanislavova, Marcos Romero, Samuel Rodríguez and Adrián Lozano have traveled to the TTR Tournament in Villanueva de la Vera.
Daniela Rodríguez, in the U13 Women’s Individual, qualified to compete for the medals as first in her group, and being the first seed in the Tournament, she qualified directly for the final, playing this against the local player Emma Jiménez, from Bádminton Cura Mora, giving a good account of it, to proclaim herself TTR CHAMPION.
Competing in the U15 Women’s Individual was Kristina Stanislavova, who qualified to compete in the final draw after being first in her group, reaching the final in the draw, which she played with the Asturian Alma Álvarez, from Badminton Oviedo, whom she led to three sets, although in the end he couldn’t beat her due to a disconnection in the second set, with a result of 21-12, 6-21 and 18-21, to become TTR SUBCAMPION.
Marcos Romero and Samuel Rodríguez, competed in the U17 Men’s Individual, both won their qualifying group and moved on to the knockout phase with an Albatros secured in the final of the Tournament, since they were going to meet in the semifinals, in that match Marcos was able to beat Samuel and therefore Samuel Rodríguez finished the Tournament as third place; while Marcos Romero played the final with the Galician Gael Rodríguez, from Athlos Ourense, whom he won by 21-19 and 21-18, demonstrating that he is in a sweet state of form in competition, proclaiming himself TTR CHAMPION.
Adrián Lozano competed in the U19 Men’s Individual, where he competed in a difficult group in which he won two of his three matches, not being able to advance to the final draw, but finishing the TTR as third place.
Daniela Rodríguez also competed in the U13 Women’s Doubles category, in this case partnering with Toledo’s Vera Dasilva, from Badminton Vega Sport de Velada, reaching the final, again against Emma Jiménez and her partner, from Badminton Cura Mora, Marta Moreno, but in this case Daniela and Vera could not beat the locals, losing the final by a double 19-21, with Daniela Rodríguez and her partner Vera Dasilva going up to second place, proclaiming themselves RUNNER-UP CHAMPIONS of the TTR Tournament.
Marcos Romero and Samuel Rodríguez were the Albatros couple in the U17 Men’s Doubles, reaching the final of the TTR against Javier Gutiérrez and Juan Gutiérrez, from Drop Toledo, in this case the balance tilted towards the Toledo team, who beat the Cuenca team in three sets. , 21-14, 18-21 and 15-21, to finish as TTR SUBCAMPIONS.
