The felldo you know? This racket sport, a mixture of tennis and squash which is played in doubles, is enjoying growing success in France.
To Persian (Val-d’Oise), in the new Parentheses activity zone, Enrique Escudeiro, 28 years old, created Padelmax 95, a new complex where you can practice this sport which is both fun and accessible to all.
New complex
“Le padel, we quickly fall into it. Even a beginner can quickly have fun, confides the manager. We have a clientele who comes from the north of Val-d’Oise, but also from Cergy-Pontoise and the south of Oise. »
Open since October 1, Padelmax welcomes players every day, from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. On site, padel fans can enjoy the two indoor courts, a relaxation area and changing rooms, one of which is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Upstairs, a large room hosts yoga classes on Sunday mornings.
Padel is played in doubles on a court surrounded by grills and windows. The rackets are full and cost between €30 and €200 for the high-end models.
The serve is done with a spoon and you can use the bounces on the windows to return the ball.
Today, the French Tennis Federation (Fft) has 70,000 members (at least double the number of players). This is three times more than in 2023.
There are also 2,248 grounds in France and 737 clubs. A nice progression, but modest figures compared to Argentina or Spain where this sport exploded in the 90s.
Ideal for lobs
Former footballer for Fc Chambly-Oise. Enrique Escudeiro is now a young local entrepreneur with several strings to his racket. A few years ago, he created Footmax, in Saint-Maximin (Oise), a place dedicated to the practice of futsal five (five players against five players).
“We wanted to expand and we had this opportunity, in Persan,” explains the Camblysian. The conditions are exceptional here. The weather is nice and we have good ceiling height. This is ideal for lobs. »
In February, the site will have a new fitness room on the ground floor. Later, still in 2025, two other padel courts will see the light of day in the neighboring box of the complex.
To practice in Persan, count between €48 for one hour (€12 per person) and €88 for two hours (€22/p.).
Upcoming tournaments
Other good news: Padelmax 95 will soon be able to host padel tournaments.
“We received approval. We are waiting for the green light from the Fft. We will be able to organize two to three tournaments per week,” rejoices Enrique Escudeiro.
