Rostock Seawolves Make History: First-Ever Win in Bonn
The Rostock Seawolves have scripted history in the Basketball Bundesliga, securing their first-ever victory against Telekom Baskets Bonn in a thrilling 81:77 win at the Telekom Dome on Tuesday. This remarkable performance is also the team’s fourth consecutive win, consolidating their seventh position in the league table.
“I’m honestly at a loss for words,” said Bonn coach Marko Stankovic after the game. “They probably deserved to win by a larger margin with the way they played.”
Dominant First Half, Nerve-Wracking Finish
The Seawolves played exceptionally well in the first half, leading by as much as 20 points. They shot an impressive 64% from the field and converted six out of 13 three-point attempts. Their strong response to the defeat in Sopot (Euro League) a few days ago was evident in their play.
Scorers: Baggette (8), Crockett Jr. (19), Klassen (4), Kolenda (7), Lansdowne (12), Leuchten (10), Lockhart (2), Nicholson (12), Schwartz (7), Theis (0)
“We controlled the game very well for almost half of it. Unfortunately, in the other half, we allowed them too many easy points from quick attacks,” said Seawolves coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz. “We got a little nervous and lost too many balls. We panicked a bit because we realized we could win away from home.”
Telekom Baskets Bonn to Visit Rostock
The Bonn team fought back in the latter stages of the game, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Seawolves from earning a well-deserved victory. The two teams will meet again next Saturday, January 31, with the Seawolves hosting the Telekom Baskets Bonn at their local town hall.
