Alex Murphy Joins Movistar Estudiantes

Alex James Murphy, a 2.06m power forward from the United States, has become the latest addition to the Movistar Estudiantes basketball team. With Finnish nationality, Murphy returns to the LEB Oro league after showcasing his skills in the Japanese League.

Movistar Estudiantes has signed Murphy to strengthen their inside game. He is a versatile player who can excel both in the paint and on the perimeter, with the ability to shoot from beyond the three-point line. Murphy has previously played in the LEB Oro with Gipuzkoa Basket, where he helped the team secure promotion to Liga Endesa, and with Covirán Granada. In the past two seasons, he has been playing in Japan, where he has been a key contributor, averaging 12.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game for Levanga Hokkaido.

Alex Murphy completes the Movistar Estudiantes squad for the upcoming season, joining Adams Sola, Toms Leimanis, Michael Carrera, Kevin Larsen, Alec Wintering, Francis Alonso, Hugo López, Yannick Nzosa, Sergio Rodríguez, Carlos Suárez, and Johnny Dee. According to coach Pedro Rivero, Murphy’s versatility and intensity will have a positive impact on the team’s performance.
