ROME – A match that in 1994 marked a very important step in the history of baseball. In fact, on 16 October of that year, the Original BXC Match of seven rounds was played on the then ‘Rino Veronesi’ field in Casalecchio di Reno (BO), which ended with the result: Aquilone Empoli Red Sox 15 – Bologna White Sox 11. From that day the competitive activity of Baseball Giocato da Ciechi officially began, which this year celebrates its thirtieth year of activity. A thirty-year anniversary full of very important events in 2024, both in terms of national and foreign activity. The national activity, i.e. the Italian Championship, Italian Cup, Home Run Derby and All-Star Game, was played by 11 teams spread throughout Italy who competed from March to October, playing matches that showed a great technical and organizational improvement of the whole movement. The development abroad instead saw its culmination with the 2nd WBSC Blind Baseball International Cup, which was played in London from 27 to 29 September 2024 with the participation of Italy, the Netherlands, Great Britain, the USA (already protagonists of the last edition) , which was joined for the first time by China, Cuba, Hungary and Pakistan. The seed planted over thirty years ago by Alfredo Meli and well cared for by Umberto Calzolari, Alberto Mazzanti and all the technicians and managers who have collaborated with them over time has become a robust tree whose branches now spread in all directions . For the October 16th match, a postcard of the event was created with the three Ps (Pippo, Pertica and Palla, Jacovitti’s characters) playing baseball. Donated by Benito Jacovitti for the Original BXC Match 16 October 1994 -Bologna-Casalecchio di Reno.
