Lugo Fires Toni Seligrat: Alex Ortiz Takes Helm as Team Struggles
Lugo football club has parted ways with head coach Toni Seligrat after a string of five losses in their last six matches, leaving them at risk of relegation in the Spanish first division. The decision comes following their 0-4 loss to Barcelona B, the league’s last-placed team. Albivermelhos currently have 42 points, equal to the relegation zone, with a critical match against Nàstic de Tarragona upcoming, who are battling for a playoff spot for promotion.
The instability on the club’s coaching bench has been particularly prominent since the departure of Rubén Albés at the end of the 2022 season. Since then, Lugo has had four different coaches in their quest to avoid relegation to the Primera RFEF.
