Returning after motherhood, Milena Todorova for the first time in her career got on the podium in the Biathlon World Cup.
In the German winter center Oberhof, the national team from Troyan performed fantastically and with 1 miss in the shooting took 3rd place.
The last time a Bulgarian was in the top 3 at the start of the world cup was in March 2004, when the legendary Ekaterina Dafovska became second in the 10 km pursuit in Holmenkollen (Nor).
Milena is our 8th biathlete to reach the podium at the start of the World Cup. Apart from Dafovska, the others are Maria Manolova, Tsvetanka Krasteva, Iva Shkodreva, Nadezhda Alexieva, Irina Nikulchina and Pavlina Filipova.
Todorova’s best finish to date was 8th place, also achieved in a sprint on March 19, 2021. in Östersund (Sw).
Already as a mother, Milena approached him on December 13 last year, when, with 10 goals down, she placed 10th in the sprint in Hochfilzen (Av). Her achievement was then celebrated with a special post on IBU social networks.
