Young Athletes Program: The Path to Elite Sports

Launch Date March 9, 2025 The beginning of the third round of the Austria-wide talent promotion program “Young Athletes.” Marks the start of a new chapter in identifying and nurturing young talent across Austria.
Opening Event Mitte (Salzburg and Upper Austria) Joint opening event where young talents were tested and trained. Includes sports psychological and motor tests, as well as a nutritional workshop.
Participating Athletes 19 athletes from Upper Austrian Sports Union Diverse sports including unicycling, rowing, and water skiing. Goal: To take the next step in their sporting development.
Program Goals Discover and promote talented young athletes Aimed at young athletes not yet in performance centers or sports schools. Supports both athletes and their clubs to create optimal conditions.
360-Degree Support Holistic approach with professional teams in sports psychology, nutrition, and athletics. Includes workshops and training camps. Focuses on the entire environment, including parents and coaches.
Transition from Popular to Top Sport Program launched to bridge the gap between popular and top sports. Supports young athletes in their journey to healthy competitive sports. Addresses the lack of comprehensive development structures in Austria.
Annual Intake Around 130 young athletes aged 12 to 15 Screenings divided into four regions starting in March. Includes extensive sports engine and psychological tests, as well as nutritional checks.
Program Highlights Multi-portive Young Athletes Camp in BSFZ Obertraun Autumn event where young athletes from all regions come together. Measures progress with two performance tests at the beginning and end of the program.
