Next Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, the first games of the semi-finals of the 1st Badminton Bundesliga will take place. In the play-off semi-finals, the reigning champion ASV Pressbaum meets Badminton Mödling and Raiffeisen UBSC Wolfurt plays against the regular round winner ASKÖ Traun. In the Lower Austria derby, Pressbaum is the clear favorite in front of the home crowd, but the Mödlingers should not be underestimated due to their strong squad.
A small downer for the Mödlingers is the probable failure of their No. 1 Luka Wraber, who is competing against the international badminton elite at a tournament in Poland. In the second semi-final, last season’s runner-up ASKÖ Traun will host third-placed Raiffeisen UBSC Wolfurt in the HAKA Sportarena. Here too, the home team from Traun is the favorite, but they are warned due to the strong performances of the Wolfurt team in the regular round.

Middle play-off 1st and 2nd Bundesliga:
In the fight to stay in the league or for promotion to the 1st Bundesliga, the first duels in the middle play-off will take place next Saturday, March 23rd, 2024. In the first encounter, the champions of the 2nd Bundesliga WAT Simmering welcome the runners-up BC Smash Graz. In the last duel between the two second division teams, the Viennese team prevailed in the 8th round. Although WAT Simmering is the favorite due to the convincing first half, the Graz team is convinced that they can surprise. In the second match of the middle play-off, the two teams Sportunion Ohlsdorf and BSC 70 Linz are fighting to stay in the 1st Bundesliga. While Ohlsdorf was unable to win in the entire regular season and is therefore an outsider, the Linzers are currently complaining about the loss of their regular players. However, since anything is always possible in play-off duels, it remains to be seen which teams will keep a cool head.
