World Spine Day 2024 is celebrated every year on 16 October. This day is celebrated with the aim of informing people about the health of the spine and its problems. On this occasion, the doctor told some yogasanas and exercises (Yoga for the spine) that can strengthen your spine.

Simply put, the spinal cord supports almost half of the body’s weight.
In such a situation, it is very important to take care of it. However, due to today’s busy lifestyle and ever-increasing sitting time, the spinal cord begins to deteriorate. These days, due to standing straight and repeatedly bending over, back problems have increased significantly. In such a situation, World Spine Day is celebrated every year on 16 October with the goal of spreading awareness about spine health and its problems. On this occasion, Dr. Rajesh Verma of the Orthopedic Department of Maringo Asia Hospitals, Gurugram talks about exercise to keep the spine healthy and how to prevent spinal cord injury.

bridge exercise
Doctors say that this exercise helps maintain the health of your spine. It also strengthens your hips and lower back.
bird dog exercise
To do this exercise, first sit on your knees. Then extend your side and opposite leg into the air. Stay in this posture for a while and then do the same with the other arm and leg. Doing this exercise will improve your balance and also strengthen your core and lower back muscles.
pelvic tilt
To do this exercise, first lie down and then place your toes close to the ground and bend your knees. Place your hands on the ground as well. Now tighten your abdominal muscles and press your lower back to the floor to gently lift your pelvis. This will help make your lower back more flexible.
Cat-Cow Stretch
This exercise helps improve the flexibility of your spine. It also helps to stretch the back muscles. To do this, first of all rest your knees on the floor. Now raise your hands and then gently touch the ground. After this, bend your back and breathe while lifting your head and tail.

Doctors say that apart from these exercises and yogasanas, you can also help keep your spine healthy by doing less strenuous exercises like swimming, cycling or walking. All of these exercises can reduce discomfort around the spine and increase blood flow. Stretching exercises are also beneficial for improving mobility and reducing back pain, especially in the hamstrings.
