Historic Victory: Martínez-Rosendo & Urgoiti Dominate Spanish Women’s Senior Double Championship

Valmuza Golf played host to a thrilling finale on Sunday, as Natalia Martínez-Rosendo & Aa Urgoiti secured a brilliant victory at the Women’s Senior Double Spanish Championship. With forty couples battling it out, this dynamic duo emerged triumphant, earning their place in the history books.

Masterclass in Greensome

The victorious pair had already set the pace on Saturday with a strong performance in the Fourball. On Sunday, they maintained their impressive form, posting a spectacular 69 in the Greensome format. Their exceptional play left them with a total score of 139 (-5), claiming the championship with a convincing lead.

Podium Finishes & Records

Finishing just behind the winners were two couples tied on a score of 145 (+1): Esther Tamarit Cortina & Lourdes Barbeito, and Mónica Jesen & María Castillo. Macarena Campomanes & Catalina Castillejo finished fourth with 150, while Casilda Castillejo & María Ángeles Ruberte rounded out the top five with a score of 152.

Catalina Castillejo, the most decorated player in the competition’s history, secured her seventh title — her sixth came with Macarena Campomanes and her second with Carmen Maestre. This time, she missed out on the top spot by one stroke but maintained her impressive record.

Next Up: Spanish Autonomic Federations Championship

The successful hosting of the national championship has set the stage for another major event at Valmuza Golf. Next month, from October 9 to 12, the course will welcome competitors for the Spanish Autonomic Federations Championship 2025 ‘XIII MAJOR MEMORIAL’.
