Wisconsin Men’s Basketball Lands Lithuanian Forward Aleksas Bieliauskas

Key Addition to Wisconsin’s Roster

Madison, Wis. — Wisconsin men’s basketball has bolstered its frontcourt with a significant addition. Head coach Greg Gard announced the signing of Aleksas Bieliauskas, who will join the Badgers as a freshman for the 2025-26 season.

"We are excited to have Aleksas join us," Gard said. "His size and experience will be an immediate asset to our program."

Meet Aleksas Bieliauskas

Bieliauskas, a 6-9 forward from Kaunas, Lithuania, brings a wealth of experience to Madison. He played for Zalgiris II in the Lithuanian NKL during the 2024-25 season, averaging 12.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, with a 39.3 percent shooting percentage from beyond the arc.

Standout Performances

  • In an 81-78 win over Palanga, Bieliauskas scored 25 points on 10-for-12 shooting from the field.
  • He also posted a career-high 27 points in an 82-74 loss to Jurbarkas.

International Experience

Bieliauskas has represented Lithuania in international competitions. In the 2023 Under-18 European Championships, he played in seven games, averaging 8.6 points and 6.1 rebounds. His Badger teammate, Riccardo Greppi, participated in the same tournament for Italy.

In the 2022 U17 World Cup, Bieliauskas averaged 8.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for a fourth-place Lithuanian team. He scored eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the semifinal contest against the eventual champion, USA.
