Gaudreau Brothers’ Widows Speak Out, Announce Foundation: ‘Didn’t Get a Goodbye’
The Tragic Loss of Two Brothers
In the early hours of March 14, 2022, the lives of two loving brothers, Matthew (23) and Johnny Gaudreau (21), were cruelly cut short. A car crash on a Pennsylvania highway took their lives, leaving behind grieving families, friends, and partners.
One Year Later: Widows Speak Out
On the eve of the one-year anniversary of their tragic deaths, Meredith and Madeline, the widows of Matthew and Johnny, respectively, sat down for an emotional interview on ‘Good Morning America’. Their raw grief resonated as they shared memories of their late spouses, and the plans they have made to honor their memories.
We didn’t get a goodbye. It’s something that we’re never going to get over. But we know they’re in a better place now, and we’re going to continue their legacy.— Meredith Gaudreau (Widow of Matthew)
A Foundation for Change
- In their spouses’ honor, Meredith and Madeline announce the launch of the Gaudreau Foundation, aiming to support young athletes, mental health awareness, and road safety.
- The foundation will be officially launched on Wednesday’s ‘Good Morning America’, where the widows will share more about the initiative and how the public can contribute.
Where Does the Driver’s Case Stand?
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the fatal crash, 36-year-old Michael J. Bily, faces multiple charges, including vehicular homicide while DUI and driving under the influence. The Columbus Dispatch reports that his case remains ongoing, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for late March 2023.
Moving Forward with Love
Despite their immense grief, Meredith and Madeline are determined to turn their tragedy into something positive. “We want to make sure their legacy lives on,” said Madeline. “And we know that they would be so proud of us for what we’re doing.”
As they continue their journey through grief, the widows hope that the foundation will serve as a beacon of change and a testament to the love, joy, and kindness that Matthew and Johnny brought into the world. They urge others to support the foundation, remembering the brothers through action and kindness.
