Cégep de Saint-Thérèse Athletic Roundup: Gaillards Dominate, Badminton Splits Wins
Gaillards Hockey Team: Hot and Cold This Weekend
In a weekend of mixed fortunes, the Gaillards hockey team from Cégep de Saint-Thérèse started on a high note but ended on a low.
On Saturday, the Gaillards glove-handed their way to a 5-3 victory against the Triades from Cégep de Lanaudière at the JC Perreault complex in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan.
“We played really well as a team,” said a Gaillards player, who wished to remain anonymous.
However, the jubilation was short-lived as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the railroad workers from Cégep de Saint-Jérôme the very next day.
Badminton Team: A Weekend of Ups and Downs
The badminton team also experienced a mixed bag of results this weekend.
- They tasted defeat at the hands of Bois-de-Boulogne’s horsemen (83-51) and Cégep de l’Outaouais’ Griffons (81-53).
- But they bounced back with victories over the Nordiques of Lionel-Groulx college (81-65) and the lynx of Cégep Édouard-Montpetit (86-56).
All matches were played at the Lionel-Groulx college in Saint-Thérèse.
“Our badminton team showed great resilience this weekend. They didn’t let the two losses dampen their spirit and fought back strongly to secure two wins,” said a team coach.
Looking Ahead
The Gaillards will be looking to build on their Saturday’s victory and avoid a repeat of Sunday’s performance in their next fixtures. The badminton team, meanwhile, will aim to convert more of their matches into wins.
