In that sense, the mayor of the city, Raimundo Agliati, met with the Minister of Sports, Jaime Pizarro, to unite criteria regarding how progress is being made in meeting the requirements established by FIFA.
“I met with the Minister of Sports, Jaime Pizarro, to find out the general status under his gaze, which has responsibility at a certain national level for this event as the organizing committee. I also expressed all my willingness, my commitment, and leadership at the community level so that the event is a success and can move forward.”
Along with this, the authority of the regional capital commented that, with the Secretary of State, “we are clear that the progress of the work on the El Teniente stadium is channeled both in the execution and in the financing through Codelco, the fields sports one, four and ANFA, are already in bidding under financing from the municipality of Rancagua.”
In that sense, Raimundo Agliati pointed out that regarding this tender it is already underway, especially when “it concludes in January and we hope to award for an early start of works. However, there are improvements that FIFA has demanded in the environment, associated with the infrastructure, also of the sports venues themselves, and this is where we also hope to have financial support from some public institution of the State.”
Along with this, he stressed that “I also raised the need to be able to have clarity about how resources will be obtained to be able to advance in having everything enabled, understanding that it is a championship that is at the national level with the concern that it be a success in all their headquarters.”
Finally, Raimundo Agliati assured that “here we are going to work tirelessly so that Rancagua shines again in this sporting event, where there must be a legacy for the city and where we can once again enjoy this event, beyond the sporting event, just as “It was with the 2015 Copa América or with the South Americans.”
Other topics discussed in the event
Not everything was the U20 World Cup, also, together with Minister Jaime Pizarro, other topics were analyzed that will have Rancagua as the protagonist in sporting events.
One of those events is the South American Beach Volleyball Championship, which will take place in March.
“We also reviewed what has to do with the entry into operation in 2025 of the semi-Olympic heated pool, a project that began several years ago and is now in its final stage to make it available to the Rancagüinos.”
For this reason, Agliati concluded, “it was an excellent and very good meeting, very good welcome and disposition on the part of Jaime Pizarro, Minister of Sports, and we were in line to work together for the success of this Under 20 World Cup in our city. ”.
