Golden State Warriors faced a double blow on Thursday night as they succumbed to the Houston Rockets 100-104. The defeat, coupled with an injury to their star point guard Stephen Curry, has left the team and coach Steve Kerr concerned about their immediate future.

The Warriors were leading until the final minutes when a crucial play resulted in Curry drawing an offensive foul. This sparked a sequence of events that led to his substitution and ultimately, the narrow loss.

Curry injured his quadriceps during the incident and was subsequently ruled out of the game. An MRI later provided relief, ruling out any serious damage to his knee or ankle. However, Curry is expected to miss several games as he recovers.

Kerr, despite acknowledging the setback, maintains a cautiously optimistic stance regarding Curry’s injury.

“Fortunately, it’s the quadriceps and not the knee or ankle. Hopefully, he can recover quickly, but we’ll have to hold our position without him.”

Beyond Curry, Gary Payton II also sustained an ankle injury early in the game, adding to the Warriors’ woes.

The night was far from memorable for Curry on the offensive end as well. He scored a modest 14 points, connecting on just 3 of his 14 field goal attempts. His 7 turnovers further compounded the Warriors’ struggles.

Despite the loss, Golden State maintains an .500 record, sitting at 10-10 in the Western Conference.

Against the Rockets’ physically robust defense, Curry and the Warriors found themselves frustrated. The combination of an injury-plagued night and a tough defense contributed to the Warriors’ narrow defeat.
