International Ramin Rezaeian has been summoned by his federation’s ethics committee for hugging a female supporter before a match in the Persian Gulf Pro League.
In Iran, Ramin Rezaeian exposed himself to punishment by hugging a supporter before a championship game, between his team Esteghlal and Chadormalu. The 34-year-old defender was summoned by the ethics committee of the Iranian Football Federation, Tasnim news agency reported on Friday, December 27.

Islamic law enforced in the country since the 1979 revolution forbids a man from having physical contact with a woman outside the family circle. Furthermore, women have not been allowed to enter a stadium for decades in Iran.
If Ramin Rezaeian’s punishment is still unknown, a similar episode that happened a few months ago allows us to get an idea. Last April, Hossein Hosseini, also an Esteghlal player, was suspended for one match after hugging a supporter. The media then revealed that the Federation had fined him 300 million tomans (4,400 euros) for “misbehavior with security agents during the match”.
