UTSA Roadrunners Tennis Team Prepares for Doubleheader Against Texas Tech and Abilene Christian

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA Roadrunners men’s tennis team (3-10) is gearing up for a busy weekend, set to compete against both Texas Tech and Abilene Christian. The Roadrunners will face Abilene Christian on Friday at 1 p.m. Inside the Judi and Cecil Eager Tennis Pavilion, followed by a Sunday noon matchup against Texas Tech at the McLeon Tennis Center.

Roadrunners Riding Momentum

UTSA has shown recent improvement, winning three of its last four contests, including victories over Louisiana (6-1) and Southern Miss (4-0). Sophomore Oskar Grzegorzewski has been a key contributor, improving to a 6-5 singles record after a challenging start to the season, going 6-3 in the team’s last 10 matches. Freshman Maximilian Ontiveros has also been performing well, with five wins this season. Constantin Radu and newcomer Timeo Bretin each have four wins. In doubles play, Ontiveros and sophomore Ben Chetwey Ungar lead the team with three victories.

Opponent Outlook

Abilene Christian Wildcats

Abilene Christian (4-6) will be looking to rebound after a loss to No. 8 Baylor. Luis Jose Nakamine currently leads the Wildcats with a 6-3 record, followed by Jorge Aza at 5-4 and Dennis Dutiné at 4-5. In doubles competition, Marse Deli and Jorge Aza have a 3-5 record.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

Texas Tech (9-7) enters the weekend on a three-game losing streak and will play Oklahoma State on Saturday before hosting UTSA. Felipe Pagnacco leads the Red Raiders with a 20-9 record, while Niksa Arsic, Thomas VanDen Dooren, and Thiago Guglieri each have 13 wins. Arsic and Guglieri have a strong doubles record of 16-8.
