With the aim of creating a debate forum on topics related to “Strategies for the Consolidation of Physical Culture and Sports: experiences after Paris 2024”, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), through General Directorate of University Sports (DGDU) , promotes the 4th International Congress of Sports and Physical Culture, which will be held from December 2 to 4, at the Graduate Unit of Ciudad Universitaria.
The presence of speakers such as Lorenzo Vianello, president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce, enhances the program of activities of this free event, which is aimed at UNAM sports coordinators and managers, athletes, coaches, presidents of the sports associations, sports administrators, as well as professionals in physical activity and sports sciences, and health sciences, at national and international levels, and anyone interested in the subject.
The 4th Congress will have three keynote conferences, eight thematic tables and eight workshops, with more than 50 speakers, including medalists of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Prisca Awiti, judo; and Osmar Olvera, diving; as well as Naomi Valenzo, vice president of the International Gymnastics Federation and international gymnastics judge; Jahir Ocampo, exclavista and director of the National Center for Talent Development and High Performance; inter alia.
“In this fourth 4th Congress we want to highlight what has been done and should be done between each four-year Olympic cycle. Experts and specialists in various related subjects will be given a voice through their experience,” said Julio Castillón Guillermo, director of Planning and Academic Development at DGDU.
Each day will start with a keynote conference, then continue with thematic tables and, in the first two days of the event, the activities will conclude with four workshops, each.
On the first day, presentations will focus on the social impact of Olympism; For the second day of activities, the central theme was technology and innovation; and to close, the consolidation of sport and physical culture.
Around 180 attendees are expected in person, in addition to those who will participate online from anywhere in the world, as well as the special guest institution, the Manuel Fajardo University of Physical Culture and Sports Sciences (UCCFD), in Cuba, which recently recognized DGDU for its results in training and research in sports sciences.
Since 2021, UNAM university sports has been holding forums like this and has a constant evolution that goes beyond the international level.
