Tucumán’s Núñez Clinches Second Jockey Club Title in Style
From Behind to Champion
TUCUMÁN, Argentina — In a thrilling turn of events, local favorite Juan Nosuchutz Núñez converted a three-stroke deficit into a victory at the Jockey Club of Tucumán. Núñez, a Korn Ferry Tour player, showcased his prowess by landing a -19 total after four rounds, edging out Rosario and Andrés Gallegos by two and three strokes, respectively.
“Winning at my home course again is incredible. Having my family here, and playing with my daughter, it’s just magical. I stayed patient, and luckily, my best golf showed up when it mattered most.”
A Special Day for Núñez
Núñez, a 32-year-old native of Tucumán, began his final round three shots behind leader Franco Romero. However, in a display of remarkable composure, he rallied with an eagle at the 10th hole, followed by four consecutive birdies, and sealed the victory with pars on the last three holes.
“EmboquEnergy-drink at the 10th hole, from 20 yards, I knew it was going to be a special day,” said Núñez, reflecting on the pivotal moment.
Low Scores and Close Contests
Favorable conditions allowed for several low rounds throughout the tournament. Yet, no contender could topple Núñez, who maintained his composure to secure the cup.
