The British manufacturer rejuvenates its classic twin-cylinder with a new look, richer equipment and a more incisive chassis. It will land in Italy in February
The British Triumph Motorcycles has made the arrival of a new one official Speed Twin 900 for the 2025 announcing changes that go even a little beyond the simple restyling. First revisited inaestheticswith various and assorted updates that have not at all affected its timeless minimalism, the classic road twin-cylinder from Hinckley indeed presents technical innovations such as a revised frame for easier handling, an upside down fork, a new aluminum swingarm and a general upgrade of on-board technology, emphasized by the presence of new and more modern instrumentation. The one who emerged practically unscathed from this modernization work was the trusty one motor 900 cc Bonneville twin-cylinder, changed only visually. After the probable catwalk at the next Eicma show in Milan, the renewed Speed Twin 900 will make its appearance in Triumph dealerships in February 2025 with prices starting from 9.795 euro.
a clean and traditional design
—
Central element in design of the Speed Twin 900 has always been the reservoir and that of the new 2025 version has been redesigned to become more sporty, decorated with chiseled side panels and cover of the more stylized throttle body. For the new range it will initially be offered in three colors: white with blue and orange bands, black with gray bands and golden inserts, finally almost pastel grey. Even the sellaanother crucial component of the design of this motorbike, has been reshaped and is now more tapered also to provide greater legroom. Compared to the outgoing version there are also some full-LED light clusters more compact, less bulky engine crankcases and new stainless steel exhaust manifolds that lead to shorter polished terminals. There instrumentation it does not change in form, strictly circular, but it does so in substance, with the probably definitive archiving of the analogue hand in place of a LCD/TFT combination in color and with Bluetooth connectivity, capable of providing navigation turn-by-turn and call management via a specific app. Among them less flashy news there are also the folding aluminum filler cap, sportier mudguards and fork protectors and slimmer footrests. However, the feature remains in place cooling fin of the engine, now a must for the aesthetic impact and personality of the model even if the engine is actually liquid cooled.
an already reliable engine
—
As mentioned, the regeneration work on the Speed Twin 900 for 2025 has not affected the engine part. Triumph has in fact decided to rely on the tried and tested parallel twin Bonneville da 900 cc with 8 valves and single camshaft distribution used on the current model, a unit for which it declares a maximum power of 65 Cv at 7,500 rpm and a torque peak of 80 Nm already available from 3,800 rpm. In terms of consumptionthe British manufacturer declares 4 liters of fuel per 100 km, given that when combined with the 12 liter capacity of the tank it suggests aautonomy from 300 km. There is therefore no news regarding the gearbox, which remains 5-speed, and the accelerator ride-by-wire and the two mappings ‘Road’ and ‘Rain’ and the traction control. There is also a USB-C charging socket while the Cruise Control is proposed as optional.
updates to the chassis
—
Il chassis steel tubular has been extensively revised for the 2025 Speed Twin 900 version to offer an even more fun and easy ride, with Triumph emphasizing its ability to “make a difference”, but that’s not the only new feature in the chassis . In fact, a high-quality one will make its debut on the new model Marzocchi upside down fork 43 mm and 120 mm of travel, with the department suspensions completed at the rear by a pair of shock absorbers piggy-back of the same brand with adjustable preload. The latter will work in synergy with a new swingarm in aluminium, lighter and stiffer than the previous one, reducing the rear axle travel from 120 to 110 mm. The new Speed Twin 900 maintains the circles 18″ at the front and 17″ by pairing them with Michelin Road Classic tyres. To stop them it relies respectively on a single 320 mm disc with a new 4-piston Triumph radial caliper and a 255 mm disc with 2-piston Nissin caliper, both monitored by theAbs now equipped with function cornering. Next year’s Speed Twin claims a weight in running order of 216 kg and asaddle height Of 780 mm. However, this can drop up to 760 mm by choosing the low saddle, or one of the wells 120 official accessories that Triumph has prepared to fuel the historic propensity for customization of this model.
