Basketball superstar LeBron James and his son Bronny are about to be included in the final 15-man squad of the Los Angeles Lakers for the start of the NBA season. When the two play against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night (4 am), they will be the first father-son duo in the history of the best league in the world.
The Lakers selected the 20-year-old Bronny in the second round of the summer draft, 55th overall. In the preseason, LeBron and his son were together on the field in a 114:118 victory against the Phoenix Suns. Now the official premiere should follow.
James senior has long dreamed of playing with Bronny in the NBA. But it was not easy for his descendants. It wasn’t until the dress rehearsal before the start of the season that Bronny James was able to break free with 17 points, four rebounds and three steals. In five previous test games he averaged 1.6 points in 12.4 minutes and a field shooting rate of 20 percent.
The expectations of the fans, of LeBron James himself and of his agent Rich Paul “do not match the reality of his game,” an NBA manager told TV station EPSN on condition of anonymity. Bronny’s father recently blocked questions about his son’s condition. He “is a grown man, he can take all the pressure on himself.”
