Romero’s explosive Instagram post

Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero has launched a stinging attack on the club’s hierarchy, accusing them of remaining silent while things go wrong.

“Other people should be speaking up, but they don’t. They only show up when things go well,” Romero stated on Instagram, before deleting the post.

“They tell a few lies,” he added in the initial post, now deleted. His second post, with the contentious part removed, still seemed to hint at his displeasure.

I apologise to all fans who follow us everywhere, who are always there and will continue to be. We are responsible, there’s no doubt about that. But we will keep facing up to it and trying to turn the situation around, for ourselves and for the club. – Cristian Romero, Instagram post

Spurs’ dismal run of form

Tottenham has endured a dismal run of results, winning just one of their past six Premier League games. The recent 3-2 loss to Bournemouth has left the club languishing in 14th place.

  • Of the six matches, Spurs have won only one and lost four.
  • They are 15 points adrift of the top four and flirting with the relegation zone.

Romero’s message: Controversy or call to action?

While Romero’s comments may have ruffled feathers at the club, they could also be interpreted as a call to action, encouraging everyone at the club to take responsibility and turn their form around.

“We’ll stay here, working, sticking together and giving our all to turn things around. Especially at times like this, keeping quiet, working harder and moving forward all together, is part of football,” Romero said in his follow-up post.
