Torrejón’s Paula Clemente Secures Bronze at Spanish Pickleball Championship

Torrejón de Ardoz, February 24, 2026 – Paula Clemente has added to her impressive pickleball record, securing a bronze medal at the Spanish Club Championship with her team, AsDePickle, in the +18 senior category.

Rising Star in a Growing Sport

The second edition of the Spanish Pickleball Club Championship, held in Madrid on February 14 and 15, saw participation from 30 teams and over 180 players nationwide. Clemente’s achievement builds upon a successful 2025, where she claimed gold in the Madrid Championship singles competition and a silver medal in women’s doubles.

What is Pickleball?

Pickleball, a sport originating in the United States in 1965, is gaining popularity across Spain. Created by Congressman Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell, Jordan Steranka, and Barney McCallum, the sport was designed to be fun, challenging and that everyone could play.

• Pickleball combines elements of tennis, paddle tennis, badminton, and ping pong.
• The court dimensions are the same as a badminton court.
• In Spain, the sport is regulated by the Pickleball Committee of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET).

Previous Successes

Prior to this bronze medal, Clemente achieved a gold medal at the Madrid Championship in the individual category and a silver medal in women’s doubles last year. She also excelled at the Malaga Open Pickleball tournament in 2025, winning gold in female doubles 4.5 (with Lorena Rodríguez) and bronze in the individual 5.0 category.
