The Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, received in audience, this Friday, January 10, 2025 in Ouagadougou, the Director of African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Shuichi Nishino. Also at this audience were Mr. Nagashima Jun, Japanese Ambassador to Burkina Faso and his colleagues.
The exchanges between the two personalities focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in several areas including agriculture, education, infrastructure and the integration of peoples through cultural exchanges.
The head of the Burkinabè government announced to his host the major advances in the struggle for sovereignty initiated by the Burkinabè people. On the subject, the Prime Minister particularly appreciated the constancy of Japan’s support for Burkina Faso and reassured his host of the availability of his government to open a new page of cooperation with the Japanese people. “I have the chance and the privilege to have an audience with the Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, to better understand the situation and the reality of Burkina Faso in order to better develop our relations,” declared Mr. Shuichi Nishino, his exit from the hearing. Appreciating the dynamic of promoting endogenous development initiated by the government, the Japanese diplomat assured that his country is committed to supporting Burkina Faso.
“Now, Burkina Faso has changed trajectory and is trying to promote endogenous development and we want to support this direction,” he maintained. This meeting allowed the Japanese delegation to learn more about the aspirations and needs of Burkina Faso, all of which will promote better coordination of cooperation between Japan and Burkina Faso.
