In the first season of the new four-year Olympic period towards the Los Angeles 2028 Games, the key event for international judo will be represented by World Championships in Budapest, scheduled from 13 to 20 June 2025. The Hungarian capital therefore returns to host the absolute world championship for the third time in eight years, after organizing the 2017 and 2021 editions.
As usual, fourteen individual titles (seven per gender) and one team title are up for grabs (in the mixed Team Event) for a calendar that effectively follows that of the last two Olympics, with two weight categories per day (one for each sex, starting from lightweight) until the mixed team event on Friday 20 June at the end of the program .
Italy which will try to play a leading role after having collected four medals (three in the women’s sector and one with the team) at the pre-Olympic World Championships in Abu Dhabi last May, even if the world championship context has often rejected the big blues especially in the men’s field. The exact times of each day (and the TV/streaming schedule) will be established close to the event.
