Augusta, Georgia – In a landmark move that signals a profound commitment to the community, Augusta National Golf Club and legendary golfer Tiger Woods are collaborating to develop a brand-new golf course adjacent to the iconic Augusta National Golf Club. The project, dubbed “The Loop at the Patch,” is poised to revitalize the local area and honor a crucial part of the club’s history.

Key Announcement: During his opening press conference, Augusta National’s president, Fred Ridley, confirmed the exciting partnership between the club and Tiger Woods Design. This initiative represents a substantial investment in the Augusta community, reflecting a concerted effort to solidify the club’s connection to the area and extend its positive impact.

The Design: Tiger Woods, through his TGR Design team, will lead the creation of a nine-hole course, envisioned as a compact and playable layout designed to enhance the experience for local golfers. The project will be integrated into the renovation of The Patch, the municipal golf course commonly known as “The Patch” – a course deeply intertwined with the history of the Masters Tournament and its dedicated caddies.

“Today’s announcements mark an important step for Augusta and strengthen the link of our community with one of our largest Masters champions, Tiger Woods,” said Fred Ridley.

Community Focus: This project extends beyond simply building a new course. It’s a strategic move by Augusta National to amplify its engagement with the community – a community largely comprised of African-American caddies who have historically played an integral role in the Masters’ success. The investment demonstrates a desire to build on the relationship and ensure the club continues to benefit from the invaluable knowledge and experience nurtured within this community.

Expansion Plans: “The Loop at the Patch” isn’t a standalone project. It will be joined by a new 18-hole course, designed in collaboration with Tom Fazio Design and Beau Welling Design. This larger development, slated for completion in April 2026, will further enhance the golfing landscape of the region.

Supporting Education: Complementing this golfing initiative is the launch of the TGR Learning Laboratory within Augusta. Through the TGR Foundation, Tiger Woods is dedicating resources to establish a state-of-the-art facility focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. This initiative aims to provide young people in the community with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the 21st century.
