Thùy Linh Keeps Momentum Going with Impressive Wins in Early 2026
Surprise Upset at the Indian Open
Thùy Linh, Vietnam’s badminton ace, began her 2026 campaign with a bang, causing a major upset at the Indian Open. The world No. 21 stunned former world champion P. V. Sindhu of India in the first round, showing that she’s a force to be reckoned with.
Incredible Performance against World No. 2
Thùy Linh’s momentum continued as she took on world No. 2 Wang Zhi Yi of China in the ensuing rounds. Although she fell short, her performance left a strong impression, demonstrating her capability to challenge the best in the world.
Indonesia Masters: Thùy Linh’s Dominance
In the Indonesia Masters, Thùy Linh displayed her prowess once again. In the first round on January 21, she faced Lin Hsiang Ti from Chinese Taipei. Despite Lin being ranked higher, Thùy Linh’s superior skills and tactics secured her a 21-14, 21-11 victory in just over half an hour.
Last year, the Vietnamese “badminton hot girl” briefly reached 17th place in the world rankings. However, a period of decline in form and less participation in international tournaments caused her to drop out of the top 20.
Up Next: Chiu Pin-Chian
Thùy Linh’s next challenge comes in the form of Chiu Pin-Chian from Chinese Taipei, currently ranked 14th in the world and seeded 7th at the Indonesia Masters.
