They crushed Sweden (5-0) and Turkey (5-0) in the pools. Thom Gicquel, playing in men’s doubles, and his partners sealed another clear victory (3-0) against Sweden in the final pool match, with the last two matches not being played.

After teaming up with Eloi Adam, Thom Gicquel seems to have found his rhythm with new partner Tom Junior Popov. The duo will face off in the interclub division during the Flume Ille Badminton – Fos-sur-Mer match on Saturday, February 21.

Can They Break the Danish Curse?

The French men’s team now faces their toughest challenge yet, a meeting with the Danish team on Sunday at 12:30 PM. The Blues have yet to beat the Danes in this European men’s team championship. However, with the strong performances they’ve displayed so far, this year could be different, as the nine-time European champions have never seen the French so strong.

Blues Come Close to Semi-Finals on the Women’s Side

On the women’s side, the Breton pair of Romane Cloteaux-Foucault and her teammates gave a valiant effort but fell just short of reaching the semi-finals. After a narrow defeat against Bulgaria (1-4), they rebounded with a victory over the Czechs (4-1). However, they missed out on a spot in the semi-finals after a hard-fought but ultimately unsuccessful final match against Turkey, which they lost in three sets (2-3). The women’s final will be contested between Denmark and Bulgaria.
