The beaches of Riohacha were the scene of the Third Beach Volleyball Christmas Interclub Cup, a sporting event that brought together more than 50 young athletes from the departments of Atlántico, Magdalena, Cesar and La Guajira.
The competition was organized by the government, through the Departmental Sports Institute of La Guajira (IDDG). It took place from December 14 to 15 and during these days competitions were held in the female, male and mixed categories.
For two days, the participants not only stood out for their talent and dedication, but also strengthened the ties of regional integration, all framed in an atmosphere of camaraderie and sportsmanship.
Competition highlights:
Femenino U-19
- Champions: Club La Perla, Santa Marta.
- Runners-up: Valledupar.
- Third place: Club La Perla, Santa Marta.
Men U-19
- Champions: Riohvolley Club, Riohacha.
- Runners-up: Club Riohvolley, Riohacha.
- Third place: Riohvolley Club, Riohacha.
Mixed Open
- Champions: Gladiators, Maracaibo-Riohacha fusion.
- Runners-up: Club Riohvolley, Riohacha.
- Third place: Alianza VC, Riohacha.
The director of the Departmental Sports Institute of La Guajira, Bartolo Gómez Asís, expressed his satisfaction with the development of the tournament and the positive impact it generates in the territory.
“This cup not only highlights the talent of our young athletes, but also positions La Guajira as a benchmark in regional sports. We will continue working to promote initiatives that promote sport as a tool for integration and development,” said Gómez Asís.
Sports and tourism: a winning combination
In addition to sporting achievements, the Third Interclube Cup highlighted the natural and cultural wealth of La Guajira, positioning its beaches as an ideal destination for sporting activities. The combination of beach volleyball and the majesty of the Guajiro coast continues to consolidate itself as an attraction that promotes both sports and tourism in the department.
The day culminated with awards that recognized the effort and dedication of the participating athletes.
