The Austrian tennis player fails to secure his third major victory in Astana, Kazakhstan. Thiem struggled to maintain momentum in the final stages, resulting in a loss to Sebastian Ofner in a three-set match (7-5, 4-6, 2-6) after 2 hours and 29 minutes of play.
Dominic Thiem competed in the quarterfinals of the ATP tournament in Astana, following victories against Juan Pablo Varillas and Marcos Giron. His opponent, Sebastian Ofner, also advanced to this stage after defeating Marton Fucsovics and Alexander Bublik. The two players have faced each other four times between 2019 and 2023, with Thiem winning three matches and Ofner winning one.
Dominic Thiem Starts Strong
The match began with Thiem taking an early lead. However, Ofner quickly responded, resulting in a closely contested set. Thiem managed to break Ofner’s serve and secure a 7-5 victory in the first set.
