Attempted insurance scam as a bear damages the interior of a Rolls-Royce. Four people arrested in the United States

Alessandro Pinto

November 16 – 4pm – MILANO

A bear with unlikely movements enters a Rolls-Royce Ghost, passing comfortably through the door. He begins to scratch the upholstery of the luxury sedan, repeating the gesture two more times on the same day and in the same area, evidently populated by wealthy people. All of this was captured on film, then sent to the insurance company for damages. However, something was not clear to the expert eye of the biologists called into question by the insurance company, who alerted the competent authorities: four people were arrested for attempted fraud. It seems like a joke but it really happened in California, as certified by the video made public by Cnn. The gross scam attempt was immediately reported to California Department of Insurance, the institute that supervises local regulations in the sector. The investigation quickly led detectives to one of the suspects’ homes, where the bear costume complete with fake claws used to damage vehicles was found. Charles Ponzi and Bernie Madoff will probably be turning in their graves, but in terms of creativity, the authors of the attempted fraud have a guaranteed place on the podium of the most original scammers ever.

Renewed in 2021, the Rolls-Royce Ghost features a 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that delivers 563 HP of power and 850 Nm of torque already at 1,600 rpm. The new generation, 5.63 meters long and 1.98 meters wide, rests on a new aluminum chassis, already used in Cullinan SUVs and the Phantom. The set-up of the Ghost has been improved with four-wheel steering which rewards handling, while the Planar suspension system works for maximum comfort. This upper wishbone damping unit works in parallel with the Flagbearer system, which uses cameras to scan the road and prepare the suspension to deal with any type of roughness in the terrain. Despite its size and nature aimed at the most comfortable extra-luxury, the Ghost sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.
