With her three medals with Colombia, the Samarian once again demonstrated why she remains a world power in the discipline of skating.

Santa Marta’s María Fernanda Timms Ariza, known as ‘Mafe Timms’, continues to establish herself as one of the most prominent figures in world skating. At the recent World Skating Championships, the national representative won a triple of medals, with two golds and one silver, demonstrating her dominance in this sport.

Among his achievements, the following stand out:gold medals in the 500, 1000 and 3,000 meter relay events, while in the Vuelta al Circuito in the Senior Women category she won the silver medal, completing a 1-2 for Colombia at the start of the route.

In addition to her outstanding performance at international level, Mafe Timms continues to receive recognition in her homeland, the department of Magdalena, where she is considered the most decorated athlete in the discipline of skating.

Timms’ passion for this sport began at an early age, when she dreamed of having her own skates. With effort and sacrifice, she managed to make that dream become a reality that has now led her to become a world champion. “I didn’t choose skating, I chose ice skating.” “Skating chose me,” he confessed in an interview, recalling how his father finally bought him some skates when he was around four years old.

In addition to her success at the World Cup, Mafe also shined at the National Games of the Axis Cafetero 2023, where he gave Bolívar a new joy by winning the gold medal in the 1000-meter race, in a competition marked by rain and falls of his rivals on the track.

Timms, a seventh semester student of Public and Territorial Administration at the University of Magdalena, expressed his gratitude towards his family, friends and the national team. Colombia. “I have worked very hard to achieve this, and although I still don’t fully believe it, I am full of pride and happiness,” she said.

Despite having achieved success, Mafe Timms’ season is not over yet. The skater has several national and international commitments on her agenda, which motivates her to continue training and improving her performance.

I would love to thank God first and foremost, my father, my mother, my grandmother, my brother, my entire family for their constant support, for always being there for me, my children, my friends, my family, my friends … friends and the entire Colombian team who believed in me, the coaches, the directors, and gave me this opportunity.”

On the other hand, she also highlighted that “I have already competed in several world championships and achieved something like this, I competed in four events, three gold medals for me, one silver, in which my other teammate from Colombia won the silver because the idea is always to do teamwork to give the medal to the country.”
