Santos Signs Three-Year, $15 Million Deal
The Golden State Warriors have signed forward Gui Santos to a three-year, $15 million contract extension, sources told ESPN. The deal includes a player option for the 2028-29 season.
This extension secures the future of a player the Warriors developed through their system, having drafted him 55th overall in 2022. Santos initially honed his skills with the Santa Cruz Warriors before earning a spot on the main roster.
Emerging as a Starter
Santos has recently stepped into a starting role following an injury to Jimmy Butler, averaging 31 minutes per game this month. He has scored in double figures in 11 of the past 12 games.
The 23-year-old Brazilian player was set to become a restricted free agent in July, but the Warriors proactively extended his contract, keeping him with the franchise for at least two more seasons.
Developmental Success Story
“Santos is a developmental success story for the Warriors,”
ESPN
Santos made his professional debut with Minas of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) during the 2018–19 season.
