Atomik’s Timely Injection Keeps San Lorenzo Afloat

Sponsor’s Advance averts disaster for San Lorenzo

In a critical moment, San Lorenzo finds itself bailed out by its main sponsor, Atomik. The company has transferred 250 million pesos to help the club meet its financial commitments, including pending salaries for its professional team.

The most pressing case was that of Colombian defender Jhohan Romaña, who could have found himself freed from his contract if the payment had not been made before an 8 p.m. deadline. Thanks to Atomik’s advance, Romaña and other players, such as Alexis Cuello, were paid their overdue salaries.

Not the first time Atomik comes to the rescue

Atomik has repeatedly extended financial support to San Lorenzo throughout the year to regularize different contractual situations. This mechanism has become a lifeline for the club, keeping it afloat amidst financial challenges.

Differences in payment scheme among players

While club president Marcelo Moretti announced the payment of salaries, the professional team clarified that the payment scheme varies depending on the category of the footballers. Some players received only part of their July salary, while younger players were paid up to and including August.

The temporary relief provided by the new economic injection sets the stage for San Lorenzo to continue working towards balancing its financial commitments without relying heavily on sponsor advances.

Atomik demands accountability

The company has requested that San Lorenzo sends it payment certificates to prove that the money was indeed used to settle debts with the professional soccer team.
