Jean-Noël Canva has been a teacher at the Saint-Pierre-la-Cour judo club for ten years. He came to give lessons in judo and also taiso, new for this school year. The youngest children, welcomed to the club, were born in 2020.
In 4 years, we have a lot of motor skills and a little judo, the teacher explained. All children have fun. Competitions start from 6 years old. There are approximately three each year. Taïso is for everyone, from 13 years old. Originally, taiso meant “body preparation” in Japanese. It is practiced on the judo mat, without contact or opposition. It’s a mix of cardio, muscle strengthening, stretching and relaxation. The judo club had 40 members last season. The goal is to increase the workforce.
