Ja Morant was standing at the end of the Memphis benchcheering on his teammates with his right arm hanging from his injured shoulder as Memphis completed a 132-124 victory over the Pelicans on Friday night. Morant was hurt when he collided hard with a legal block set by Daniel Theis during the third quarter. The impact caused Morant to fall to the ground and the referees initially called a foul on Theis, overturning the decision after instant replay.

Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins offered no update on Morant’s condition after the match in the press room. Recall that about a year ago, a torn labrum in the same shoulder ended Morant’s 2023-24 season.
“Obviously, he took a good hit to the shoulder, but we’ll have more of an evaluation in the next couple of days,” Jenkins said, also praising his team’s “great determination” in holding off the Pelicans after Morant left the field .
